Not far from the left bank of weird, beautiful and often roughly Western Morava, about ten kilometers from Trstenik there is Velika Drenova. The Moravian valley with its natural conditions of the area has influenced agriculture to become the most basic aspect of occupation. They quickly won favorable land, so Velika Drenova became one of the most famous vineyards.
In the year 1892, ” Agricultural Cooperative ” was founded for the purpose of procuring and trading industrial and commercial goods for the needs of agricultural households. “Vino Kalem” is one of the oldest organizations in Serbia with tradition of more than one century in the field of vine grafts and quality wines production. Agricultural Cooperative “Vino Kalem” succeeds in imposing to domestic and European markets by high quality production. Vine graft and grape were two basic products.
During the years of vine grafts and fruit seedlings production, “Vino Kalem” exceeded its local needs, and in 1903, selling on the market already started. So in 1920 it was 50,000 pieces to reach the amount of 5,000,000 pieces of grafts in 1927.
From year to year production is increasing, a significant part goes to the foreign market. That same year, “Wine Kalem” sells 80,000,000 grafts.
By privatization, “Vino Kalem” became a joint-stock company, starting a new development period, which is reflected primarily in the expansion of production activities from vine grafts and fruit seedlings to the production of quality wines and brandy. Under the conditions of changing the state-of-the-art technology and equipment for production and care of wine. As result of continuous work, investing in employees and monitoring the habits and tastes of consumers, we have offered to customers of our products and consumers new range of products of recognizable quality.
